It was a rainy day here, so we made do! We had a great morning worship as we went through Proverbs 31. Did you know that this was written from a mother to a son? We took each verse and discussed what that means for us. What does each verse look like, in not just a woman, but also a man. We finished by discussing how we should pray for our future spouse. We should share with God the desires of our heart and that this person should be a HELPMATE for us. That it is a team. We talked about how our boys need to grow into men who protect their young lady and who looks after her and is the sprirtual leader of their home. We discussed how our girls need to grow into young women who are helpers in the home, they respect their husband as the leader and care for their family. After worship, the boys and girls split into small groups to discuss this further. They are so funny and also honest in how they feel about the opposite sex. You are raising wonderful young men and women who I have no doubt will have strong Christian homes one day!
After morning worship, we had lunch and then a few took a nap or reflected. Some of us went down to the pool once the clouds parted. After an awesome supper of tacos and taco salad, we jumped on the bus and headed to the Alpine coaster. We rode it in the dark! No fear parents, they had lights and it was super safe! We had a blast. Even though it made for a long, late night, we still enjoyed in our fellowship with each other.
Our night service was late., but a good one! We studied one of their favorite lessons, Ruth and Boaz. I'm going to let Team 3 tell you more about it. Words will never be able to describe how the Holy Spirit moved in our little cabin last night.
Ruth was a young woman that was married to one of Naomi's sons. Within 10 years Naomi's husband and two sons died. That meant that Ruth, Naomi, and Orpah were alone. Naomi told both of them to go back to their families because they were young and could remarry. Orpah ended up going back to her family but Ruth deiced to stay with Naomi. They ended up going to Bethlehem were Ruth went to work on the farm. She would pick up the leftover things left behind. Boaz saw her working out in the field and asked who she was. They said the daughter-in-law of Naomi. It ended up being that Boaz and Naomi were related. Which back then if your husband died you would marry someone else in his family. Ruth went to visit him one night and she sat at the foot of his bed. They talked and he sent her away before anyone saw her leaving and thinking that they done some things. They then went to the person in the family that Ruth would have had to marry and at first he wanted the land but once he found out Ruth came with it he turned it down. Therefore it was Boaz next in line and he chose to marry her..
We discussed how the love of Boaz for Ruth is a true reflection of Jesus' Christ love for all people. See Ruth was a Moabite. I foreigner, yet Boaz still loved her. Just as Jesus died for ALL of us. We finished the night in prayer and watched as several of them begin to let go of hurt, frustration and anger that had been hanging out with them for way to long. Decisions were made to get focused on God again. It was so good, several of us were still praying and talking at 2:30 this morning.
We are tired, but a good tired and heading into morning worship.
We love you.
